@emeryc I'm what you would call a 'power user'; do you think I really need a mac-mini to browse the web in a half-dead safari browser? No, if I get a mac I'd like to get something that has some performance to it, so I can actually use it for some nontrivial tasks.

@Andrew That was not my intention, overall I think OSX is a great OS. I was playing around with the idea of getting an apple laptop for a while, but in the end Tablet PC won me over.

@Andrew: ... here's my question for you: have you ever considered developing for OS X and if not, why? I won't make any claims about the superiority of one OS over the other because, to be honest, I don't know enough about either of them to be a fair judge.

Simple, it wont. All we can hope for is a number of well versed writers joining this place... If you want unique editorial type content go sign up for the economist (economist.com) or pick up a Foreign Affairs publication in your local bookstore.

Benno, Yes I do realize that. But UNIX was seen as an unreachable peak also. I'm not going to make any claims towards future market share but personally I don't see why MS can't displace linux if they get things right.
